Las fronteras del pa\u00eds fueron definidas y los sistemas de caminos y v\u00edas f\u00e9rreas iniciaron un serio desarrollo.<\/p>\n<p>Infraestructura para las comunidades y servicios p\u00fablicos fueron construidos y grandes reformas educacionales y econ\u00f3micas fueron iniciadas. El primer sistema de alumbrado el\u00e9ctrico comenz\u00f3 operaciones en San Jos\u00e9 en 1844, seguido luego por sistemas en Cartago, Alajuela y Heredia. Los sistemas de agua tambi\u00e9n se volvieron una prioridad para el Estado durante la segunda parte del siglo XIX y la primera parte del siglo
