Being located in the tropics, in general terms the country has the typical tropical hummed hot weather, but the variety of geographical features of the country allow different types of micro-climates ranging from the dry savanna, passing through the rainforest all the way to the alpine conditions of the highest mountains.

In general terms, the country has a rainy season (May-November) and a dry season (December-April). Likewise, the temperatures have slight differences in the different areas of the country, with San Jose (in the Central Valley of the country) having an average 20.5 degrees Celsius and Guanacaste having an average 26 degrees Celsius.
